HISTORY OF HUNTER'S VIDEO INTERVIEWS

Two years ago, Mr. Newby realized that he had been working very hard for many years to support (amongst other things) web video as an application over IP, but had not been taking advantage of it. He came to this realization after a friend of his, Howard Lichtman, asked to interview Hunter while he was giving a tour of the telx facility at 60 Hudson St.

This is the one that started it all: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1cF0aaTp6uU

After Howard posted the video on YouTube, Revver, Brightcove and wherever else he could, Hunter found out that it had been viewed thousands of times.

Considering that it had taken Hunter several years to give a thousand tours of telx 60 Hudson, he enjoyed reaching the same number of interested viewers within 6 months and not having to be there in person. To Hunter, this was the perfect example of mass media. Rather than let the opportunity pass him by, he decided to create his own web TV channel to disseminate information. In January 2007 at the PTC in Honolulu, telx|vision was born. http://www.telx.com/telxvision/player.htm

One of the many challenges that the communications industry faces, ironically, is poor communication. Many journalists are not experts in any particular field but rather are driven strictly by the need to publish content on a deadline. This invariably leads to the publishing and ultimately perpetuation of misinformation.

Telx|vision was, in keeping with the rest of Hunter's writing, speaking/presenting style, an attempt to gather accurate information in sound bites directly from the source.  The interviews essentially cover a brief background on the company, but mainly focus on pertinent and timely issues facing the subjects’ target market.

Since its inception there have been over 100 hours of video shot consisting of presentations on various topics including IP Peering, Voice Peering, Carrier Hotels and more.

The majority of the videos were One-on-One interviews that Hunter conducted with dozens of different industry executives including a wide range of CEO’s from Telecom Italia Sparkle, Fiberlight, Hibernia Atlantic, Comfluent, Dalcom, 3U, Stealth Communications, 4 Connections and Rainbow Broadband. Hunter also had the opportunity to interview very knowledgeable, key people from Microsoft, GlobeNet/Brasil Telecom, iBasis, XO, Tiscali, Intelsat, Turin Net works, FiberNet, PaeTec, KeySpan Communications, CallTrade and many more.

Aside from the video content hosted on telx|vision at telx.com, the interviews can also be found on YouTube. Just search "Hunter Newby".
